OVERVIEW:
• The A1A project entails the reconstruction of State Road A1A from US Highway 1 to Blue Heron Boulevard for a total distance of 4.2 miles with an overall design and construction cost of $29.8 million.
• Funding sources for the A1A project include:
1. FDOT ~ $22 million
2. FPRA ~ $4.4 million
3. FPUA ~ $2.2 million
4. Harbour Isle Developer ~ $1.2 million
• In order to expedite construction the project was divided into four phases. These phases and their limits are delineated on the A1A Map distributed prior to the start of this meeting.
1. Phase IIA (US 1 to South Causeway Bridge) – Construction completed December 2006.
2. Phase III (Blue Heron Boulevard to Gulfstream Avenue) – Construction is currently underway and is expected to be completed in April 2009.
3. Phase IIB (South Causeway Bridge to Bayshore Drive) including the Harbour Isle Roundabout – Construction commenced January 2009 and is scheduled to be completed in May 2010.
4. Phase I (Bayshore Drive to Gulfstream Avenue) – Construction expected to begin in 1 to 2 years.
• The A1A improvements include the total reconstruction of the roadway complete with bike lanes, on-street parking, curb and gutter, sidewalks, drainage facilities, landscaping, irrigation, decorative street lighting, underground electric/cable/phone, colored stamped concrete crosswalks, water and sewer utility relocations and/or upgrades.

PHASE SPECIFICS:

• Phase I – Bayshore to Gulfstream:
1. 100% design plans were submitted to the City for review in November. We provided comments in December 2008 and are awaiting the revised 100% design plans addressing the review comments.
2. Awaiting FDOT Permit.
3. Awaiting FDEP Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWCC) Permit.
4. SFWMD Permits have been issued.
5. The City’s consultant has completed all the appraisals for the additional land needed for the Seaway Drive and South Ocean Drive Roundabout. Negotiations are underway for 3 of the required properties. The remaining property appraisal is currently being reviewed by FDOT; upon approval of the appraisal negotiations will commence.

• Phase IIA – US 1 to South Causeway Bridge:
Construction complete.

• Phase IIB & Harbour Isle Roundabout – South Causeway Bridge to Bayshore:
1. Construction underway.
2. AT&T and Comcast have completed the installation of their underground facilities.
3. FPUA Electric is installing the underground electrical conduit along the north side of A1A on the west end of the project.
4. Dickerson’s underground subcontractor is proceeding with the water and sewer relocation work with the drainage work beginning in March 2009.
5. Estimated construction completion date is 4-26-10.

• Phase III – Gulfstream to Blue Heron Boulevard:
1. Street light installation on-going. The new lights along SR A1A south of Coconut have been activated.
2. Water and Sewer relocations have been completed.
3. The drainage trunk line has been completed. The contractor has completed all side drain connections to this main line except three side drains north of Indiatlantic.
4. The drainage outfall swale along the north side of Jaycee Park will be completed within the next 30 days.
5. Curb and sidewalk construction complete along the east side of A1A from Blue Heron Boulevard north to the south entrance of Kimberly Bergalis Park.
6. Curb and sidewalk construction complete along the west side of A1A from Coconut north to Crestview.
7. Landscaping, irrigation, and sod completed on the east side of A1A from Coconut to Blue Heron Boulevard and along the west side of A1A from Blue Heron Boulevard to Plover.
8. Construction completion scheduled for April 2009.
